Safe Quality Food (SQF) is a food safety standard developed in Australia in 1994. In 2003 the Food Marketing Institute purchased the SQF Program and established the SQF Institute based in Arlington, VA, USA. The SQF Standards were benchmarked by The Global Food Safety Initiative in 2004.
Mitigation strategies must be determined based on the vulnerability assessment at each actionable process step to assure that vulnerabilities have been minimized or prevented. Beyond that monitoring, corrective actions, and verification procedures are required.
