GMP: Following Current Good Manufacturing Practices help ensure the safety of food.

The GMP regulations address matters including appropriate personal hygiene practices, design and construction of a food plant, maintenance of the plant and grounds, equipment, sanitary operations and production and process controls during the production of food.

Each facility is required to develop a food defense plan using an approach like HACCP to determine risks and conduct vulnerability assessment of facilities. It shall include the severity and scale of the impact on public health.
