BRC: Connecting and Protecting the Global Supply Chain
British Retail Consortium (BRC) is a food safety standard set up to reduce audit duplication by UK retailers in 1996. The food safety standard was the first standard to be recognized by The Global Food Safety Initiative in 2000. BRC was acquired by the LGC Group in 2016 and offices opened in the USA and India. Rebranding soon followed.
The BRCGS System includes standards that meet the needs of all producers in the food industry. It includes HACCP and other accepted programs to help identify and control food safety hazards. It includes the following standards:
1. Agents and Brokers
2. Consumer Products
3. Ethical Trade and Responsible Sourcing
4. Food Safety
5. Gluten Free Certification
6. Packaging Materials
7. Plant-Based Certification
8. Retail
9. START!
10. Storage and Distribution
The type of product you produce will determine the standard for your certification. Our consultants have successfully worked with clients from start to finish to achieve certification in each of these standards.

"Safe Food Resources was instrumental in the development and implementation of our BRC Programs. They started with a GAP Analysis to determine what we needed and then put together a plan of action that we could work together on to achieve Certification. In the years since initial certification, SFR is always readily available for questions we may have and performs our annual system audit for us. Their eye is always on ways that we can continually improve our food safety and quality systems. Our partnership has proven to be a valuable asset to our business operations." - Jeffrey J.
